TSV 1860 lost today at home against Karlsruhe SC with 1:3. It was the top match of the weekend in the 2. Bundesliga. Kenny scored in the 18th minute his 2nd goal for the Blues.

Played good, dominated the opponent, and lost. Not even a point. 1860 was the better team throughout the match and still managed to lose this one. It was really unnecessary but hey, it’s early in the season. There’s still a lot of time left for improvements. Let’s take a closer look to who failed and what needs to be changed.

The game started early with a disappointment. How did Gabor Kiraly not parry this shot in the 6th minutes? Later he explained to the german media how that goal was his mistake. Gabor you’re a top notch goalkeeper but that one, okay it was hard, but not unstoppable. Games are decided by the mistakes a team makes. The team with the fewer mistakes usually wins. I know, I know, I’ll stop right there.

Benny Lauth scored about 8 minutes later. Just like in game 1, the Blues had a nice midfield and this goal was played out very nicely. That’s a big step for 1860. This year munich actually got a midfield compared to the past years. Defensive midfielder Florin Lovin is the keyplayer here. That guy has a huge lung! He’s all over the place and never runs out of steam. But his position is the defensive midfield, so the question arise to where our offensive midfield is, namely Alexander Ludwig?

The second game was just like his first one, bad. He’s not producing enough. He has to step up and take charge now in game 3. Otherwise he’ll get in trouble like his teammate Sascha Rösler (the weakest player ever!). We fans pay a lot of money to see you guys play, fight and so far, Ludwig wasn’t worth the cent yet. Even his corner and his free kicks ended up in nowhere land. I know he was among the top scorers last season but hey, how hard can it be to not put the ball over the net every single time? Maybe he’s going for a Homerun, but isn’t that a different sport..?

Now to our big guy. Overall, Kenny had an OK game. It wasn’t his fault tho. For my taste he didn’t get the balls he needed. At some point I was hoping that Sechzig will start using their wings again just like they did at the 1:1 but no, no, they kept trying to go through the midfield no matter what. Rostock was defending with all men and well, you guessed it right: there was no room for pass combinations whatsoever. So, hopefully for the next game, the Lions will take advantage of their fast wings again. Those 1,92 meters can do a lot of damage when feed properly.

The wingers Sandro Kaiser had once again a great game. Daniel Bierofka and Stefan Aigner who were injured in the pre-season are back now and the will add more dynamic to the Löwen offense! Both are super fast and excellent when it comes down to “bent it like Beckham”. Kenny will profit a ton from that.

Well, well, then the 2:1, 10 minutes prior the end. Just like Kirlay, Mate Ghvinianidze was away with his national team this week. Maybe both were a bit tired? The georgian was overwhelmed in the 79th minute. I think it was Hansa’s first shot in the second half too. Let’s hope Mate learned from that experience…

What is left? Well after a very solid and convincing first game vs TUS Koblenz, the euphoria in munich has calmed down a bit. In spite of this loss, 1860 still looks very promising this season. Today the team had an Off-day. Tomorrow at 11am the team picture will be taken including the potraits of the players who are new, e.g. Kenny super Cooper. Team practice is scheduled afterwards. And now guess, who has a new lion.

Nope you guessed it wrong this time. The newest lion is a brazilian one. Left defender from the second brazilian league. He goes by the name Marcos Antonio. Time will tell if he is worth my cents…

The Lions lost with Kenny Cooper (sub’ed out at 72th min) against FC Hansa Rostock with 2:1 today. Benny Lauth scored the only goal for the Blues in then 16th minute. Above you can watch the highlights of the match. On monday I will go into more detail to what went wrong and how Kenny performed. So please stay tuned and feel free to post comments.

Tsv 1860 München will face FC Hansa Rostock this saturday. Kick-off will be at 1pm at the DKB-Arena in Rostock. The club in the north lost their season opener against MSV Duisburg with 3:1 last week. This game is going to be very interesting because Rostock is considered to be one of the contenders to  end up in the top 3 by the end of this season. A highlights video of that match will be posted a couple hours later on the very same day. Hopefully with some Kenny Cooper goals.

Today, Kenny had an off-day. There was no practice scheduled for him. That gave him time to actually go downtown Munich and discover what all this hype about this wonderful bavarian city is about. After the break: Breakfast and Beer stunned our big guy

Munich is famous for a few reasons.  One of them is the traditional breakfast, the so called “Weißwurst Frühstück”. That comes along with “Brezln” and “süßem Senf” (honey mustard). The delicious meal is completed with a “Weißbier”.

So, Kenny had to try this out. He visit the Hacker Pschorr in downtown Munich. According to a newspaper he really liked it. It’s a taste he has to get used to he said. One thing he absolutely loves tho are the Brezln. He has been eating tons of them since his arrival in Munich. Absolutely delicious!

After the little snack, his tour continued. He visited the Viktualienmarkt which is a daily market in the centre of the city. Fresh vegetable and fruits, meat, milk products, everything directly bought from the farmer himself. Health, taste and qualtiy wise, it can’t get better then this. Kenny was so positively suprised by the market and found everything so nice and beautiful. He made a lot of pictures which he had to send home to family and friends asap he said. And then he made a comment which can’t be neglected here: “I can see myself to stay here forever.” Munich loves Kenny – Kenny loves Munich.

Kenny’s next stop was the world-known beer hall Hofbräuhaus. Our US rocket was shocked once he saw the real german beer mugs. Hehehe welcome to Munich Mr. Cooper, the city with the world-best beers! And yes we do wear the Lederhose and we are proud of it.

Kenny was so stunned by the size of mugs and couldn’t believe that people actually drink out of it.

How is poor Kenny ever going to survive the Oktoberfest which will start next month? All the beer and heavy mugs? One thing is for sure, I’ll be keeping you guys informed, even if he can’t finish a single “Maß Bier”.

“Texas-Tornado” how we germans like to call Kenny, scored his very first goal last sunday vs TUS Koblenz. 17 minutes into the season opener were played until our Kenny put with a header the ball behind the enemy lines. Kenny played a very solid 1st half. He is quick and always demanded the ball. What I liked the most about Kenny is that he has a pretty good technique for his size. He has no fear to go 1-on-1. His Header in the 17th minute was like a rocket! The ball has such power that it almost knocked the goal over. In the last minutes of the 1st half, you started noticing that Kenny was getting tired. Let’s blame jacklag, although he has been in Munich for almost a week now.

In the 2nd half, Kenny had a few nice plays with Benny Lauth. I really enjoy looking at our offense now. Benny and Kenny can be and will be the next star-duo in club history. For that short period that Kenny has been in Munich, they really harmonized very well. Kenny was tired and got substituted out in the 66th minute. I knew before that Kenny is good. I’ve seen the youtube clips from his MSL and team USA days so I knew what I was expecting when I bought the game ticket. The “Löwenfans” were shouting “Cooper! Cooper! Cooper!” during his substitution. I think there couldn’t have been a better first game than this for him. I was getting the chills and I think so did Kenny Senior and Junior…

The second round of the DFB-Pokal will be played on September 8th. The Lions will be playing at home and are facing the Hertha from Berlin (1.Bundesliga). After the break: why Sechzig will win this game.

Hertha BSC finished 4th last season, short behind the Champion’s League qualifier VfB Stuttgart. This season tho 09/10, the team from germany’s capital is bad. Marko Pantelic and Andriy Voronin, Hertha’s best scorers left the team. Furthermore, Josep Simunic transfered to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, so Berlin’s defense is, just like their offense, pretty weak this season.

In the 1st round Berlin won luckily in overtime with 1:3. The opponent was Preußen Münster (4. Liga). Hertha’s also won their season opener against Hannover 96 with 1:0. The goal was scored in the 92nd minute !!!

There’s absolutely no reason why the TSV should lose this game. The Blues will be hosting and I’ll be there reporting for you guys. So stay tuned…

Kenny Cooper’s first team practice was followed by 400 Sechziger fans. The US boy was stil very tired due to jacklag. The training was scheduled for 10am which is 3am Dallas time. Poor Kenny… A few training pictures after the break.

Kenny said in a Newspaper interview how much he liked the club’s training facilities. He also didn’t expect how everyone is speaking english with him. That makes everything a lot easier for him. Nevertheless, he intend to learn german as quickly as possible. Kenny was pretty busy signing autographs as you can see in the picture above. Below you have a few pictures from his 1st practise.

Yes we can! Kenny finally arrived today. The “Texan-Tornado” was presented to the german mass media today and we all can’t wait to see him finally play !!!

Kenny Cooper Sr. came along with his son. He is going to stay with Kenny Jr. until the end of august. I guess until he found a house/apartment in Munich. By the end of august Kenny will have played 4 games total. Hopefully netting some goal for the Blues…

Oh Kenny! Can’t you wait either to play against the hated FC Bayern? It will happen much sooner then you think. Such a derby will be a great experience for you and for us all.

Well well, here we go. The Lions were looking for a forward. Someone who is big, skilled, fast with serious drive to the net. They found him: US boy Kenny Cooper (FC Dallas).

1860 had to make some serious changes. 5 years of 2.Bundesliga are just enough. The club with its big club history and its passionate fans don’t belong in the second best german soccer league. And the Allianz Arena, the home of the Blues (sorry Giesing), is more then Champion’s League category. After turbulent 5 years, sport director Micki Stevic took charge last year.

For this new season 09/10 Stevic stepped up and showed everyone how it is done. His first big coup was coach Ewald Lienen, also called “der Zettel-Ewald”. Also new players were added to give the team a new needed drive and look. Midfielder Florin Lovin, keeper Gabor Kiraly, defender Radhouene Felhi to name a few. And then came Kenny Cooper. Finally after so many years and tries, we finally found the perfect match to Benny Lauth!

Kenny was born in October 21st in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. FC Dallas (american Major Soccer League) was his latest club where he scored 40 goals in 90 matches. I’m pretty sure that the texans will miss their powerful forward and we 60′gers are very thankful for that. I am pretty sure that Kenny, who also plays for team USA, is going to have a fantastic time here in Munich, Germany. The city is beautiful, the beer much more delicious then in the US, and the fans are just out of this world here.
